For DJ Trigger Finger, electronic music has always been more about instinct than labels. At a time when AI, social media and influencer culture are rapidly changing the electronic music scene, Trigger Finger prefers a simpler compass: follow the music, stay curious and remain true to yourself. Today, his sound moves freely between deep, organic, tech and classic house, with emotion and atmosphere at its core.
You're based in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, but your musical influences are very international. How much has growing up and working in Bavaria shaped your identity as a DJ, and where do the more global influences come from?
When I was younger, there were private parties several times a year where electronic music was played. I still remember very clearly a party where someone was spinning minimal and deep tech on vinyl. It made such an impression on me that I bought my first DJ controller a week later. My international influences came from spending hours watching sets on YouTube, such as the one by Richie Hawtin B2B Marco Carola at the Amnesia Ibiza Closing Party in late 2012.
Your music has moved from minimal and deep tech towards deep and organic house. What led you in that direction, and what are you looking for in music today?
This transition happened naturally and effortlessly because I simply realized that I enjoyed listening to and producing these genres just as much. I remember listening to a lot of sets by Hot Since 82 and Lee Burridge back then. Today, whenever I start a new production in the studio, I completely free myself from any genre constraints. I just want to live out my passion for electronic music.
Your sets can also move between House, Tech House, Deep House and Organic House. How do you make such different genres flow naturally together without losing the energy of the dance floor?
Since I enjoy all these genres and generally really appreciate electronic music, I naturally let songs from all these genres blend together.
Electronic music can sometimes feel very technical, but your tracks often have an emotional, atmospheric quality. Where does that emotional side of your music come from?
This influence came mainly from my focus on organic house. I realized that this genre allows me to express my feelings most naturally.
What does being connected to DJs from different countries give you creatively?
Collaborating with DJs from other countries gives me a creative boost. It's just a joy to see that music knows no boundaries and brings people from different countries together, since we all simply share a passion for electronic music.
What excites you most about electronic music right now, and where do you see Trigger Finger heading next?
What excites me most of all is that there are still so many DJs who don't let themselves be negatively influenced by AI or the influencer-driven scene, but instead stay true to their own style and their passion for electronic music. I'll stay true to myself, won't let myself be swayed, and will continue to live out my passion for music!
